Scindhia Ghat, life with the Ganges, Varanasi

I am like a temple, my being stays stuck in this mundane world of existence, my soul remains buried in this world of Karma, so deep that I can barely feel it. The gloomy world of darkness and ignorance surrounds me as the dim lights of enlightenment wash my being in the darkness. The waters of life flow by me, promising me a moment with divinity and I wait here for my chance. The world moves on, the reflection of it fall in the waters of time as it flows past in this darkness only to dissolve in its depths. I stay here, stuck to my world, along its banks wondering what life means at all.

As daylight strikes, the Lord awakens washing me in his divine light. He sets me sailing in this river of life, with winds of experiences guiding my way. As I toss around these waters, I slowly begin to plunge into the realm of divinity, a different life, a different experience, a different world from all that is around me. My soul wakes up to his presence, as he pulls me deeper into myself, into Himself. I slowly begin to sink into another world so far away from everything. The redness of my soul flies high, as it flutters in the winds of life. This is what the world sees, what’s deeper within, dives into another realm.

Rich with experience I slowly fade into oblivion, oblivion that I know, oblivion that no one observes. The waters rise and cover my being; time takes over and covers my soul. I feel overwhelmed with this change, I know am growing yet no one sees, that I have changed though I still remain where I have always been. Pure waters of divinity take over me, submerging me and washing me off my many sins, purifying my soul, the flag of which stays silent and low. The world outside witnesses a stony self, descending into nothingness, descend into the world beneath.

As the world sinks into its misery, the sun sets behind the clouds, and twilight sets in, the blue hue of the night sky falls over me, the glow of the moon brightens my life for the world to see, this miracle. Life has a new meaning; it has new aim, aim that no one knows, an aim that I can see. It’s an aim that means nothing except that I value it, an aim that I have for myself, that is not predefined by life as we see it. It is an aim that dissolves my worldly fears in front of me, an aim that creates a dialog between the Lord and me, an aim that will finally set me free. The world appears different, with this new perspective that changes everything even while I still stay there on the side, rooted to this world but slowly drifting away.

Time overwhelms, life overflows, and the world is submerged in a whirlpool of thought and maya. I fade slowly, my life, me, away from all this misery. My reality is so different, so free, so wild and so pure. The waters of divinity envelop my being, taking my soul, taking me. I shall depart, yet my soul remains deep, worshiping and experiencing pure love, pure divinity. The Ganges comes forth, sways over me, her beautiful veil she wraps around me, submerging me slowly in her beauty. My life goes by, my glow within brightens, the redness of which is all that is left for the world to see. In this flood of life, in this flood of experience, my soul departs and sets me free.

The Scindhia Ghat, slants the way it does as the foundation sank, a situation very similar to the leaning tower of Piza.

The story goes: Quoting Laurent, Designldg on flickr.com
"There is a legend saying that the man who had this temple constructed, followed the orders of his mother. After its construction he went back to her and told her then that this way he paid everything she did for him. His mother became furious and said that nothing could ever pay a mother's love and she decided to curse the temple which started to bend."

Seeking answer to the eternal question: Who am ‘I’? ‘I’ realize ‘I’ am someone, a model that was created instantaneously in zero time, and was also destroyed simultaneously! And wonder of wonders! Thanks to the Creator, ‘I’ - one of the ghosts as one of the innumerable images of the immortal Supreme Being itself - am still getting to see my own image as it apparently was at the time of creation, vis-à-vis the image of the immortal one in the form of earth that every other ghost apparently in some animal form is also able to apparently see!

And, ‘I’ am also able to see my own various images for the last seven decades already and, on top of it, ‘I’ get a feeling as if ‘I’ am going to one day disappear and thus, due to ‘maya’, ‘I’ have failed to see my own reflection in the ‘leaning temple’/ ‘tower of Pisa’, and also in all other apparent physical forms!

The question thus arises, “What are we all doing here?” Or, What’s His purpose in ‘Brahmnad, that is, the ‘Big Bang’, at the first place?

Hi Joshi Uncle,

Profound questions, and no answers.

This temple at Scindhia ghat, is a breath taking structure, not for its architecture but for its unusual presence that makes it grab attention, though one cant even get close to the deity within.

I am not even sure its a Shiva temple, looks more like Devi, since it has a Yali-lion prominently on itself. They other interesting sculptures are vanaras and ganas.

Leaves us wondering whom its dedicated to.

Its unfortunate that many of the minor finials on top of the small minarets that make up the temple vimana have broken since people have anchored their boats to it over time, during high tide.

Yet staring at this structure one has a feeling of vague detachment from all the noise around. This is the self, fading away and we cant seem to control the world and its workings around us...

such is life.

Kavitha,
This time round the photographs by Laurente have really enhanced the value of the thoughts...!I don't agree with the popular belief regarding the tilting temple...No mother would curse her sibling...However grave maybe the mistake!

Hi Kavitha, Dr Anilji, ‘I’ would like to draw your attention to human brain's apparently funny way of working besides the well known phenomenon of appearance of dreams even in ‘inferior animal forms’!

Some characters are able to even recall their dreams vividly when in apparently a wakeful state (like ‘my late wife’ could), while some others (like ‘me’) have only vague memory of those!

It’s apparently a very well known fact that whenever one tries to reach a thoughtless stage when apparently awake, one can’t – even for one minute! Million dollar question could thus arise: WHY?

‘We’ apparently believe the actions performed by any one of ‘us’ as our own willful actions. Then how do you explain actions performed by somnambulists, who apparently perform actions in sleep! And, in wakeful condition aren’t aware of it!

Doesn’t the peculiar behaviour, described above, not indicate that at least such characters (if not all humans) are at least puppets in the hands of some mischievous and mysterious puppeteer? Call Him Krishna (meaning black, that is perhaps some unknown 'spirit'), or any other name...

Or, maybe humans could be called some advanced forms of robots controlled remotely by some superior being/ superior most being - just as in the ‘present’ man appears to be seized of the thought to control every equipment through remote control…and certain Yogis reportedly had the capability to implant their thoughts in to the minds of inferior humans and make them act differently than what they had originally proposed to do ‘on their own’! Also, there are instances reported of dacoits turning into sages by Buddha-like characters where thoughts are passed on openly to bring about the transformation maybe over some period...

‘I’ too had long back, in some post in Kavitha’s blog, had narrated my personal experience how ‘I’ was traveling through a busy road in a two-wheeler with my wife seated behind me when a boy chasing a kite usuddenly appeared from a lane and ran in front of my scooter! Fortunately ‘I’ could bring the vehicle to a stop without hitting him and without any harm coming to us.

‘My wife’ asked me after we had thanked the Lord why ‘I’ didn’t slap that brat? ‘I’ replied that he reminded ‘me’ of ‘my past’, for at a certain age ‘I’ too used to chase kites in the same fashion (thus ‘I’ too was a brat once)!

Food for thought: Why do ‘we Hindus’ call Yudhister as ‘Dharmraj’, while on the other hand we are told that he was a gambler, who not only lost ‘Indraprastha’ but also all five Pandavas’ common wife too in a game as if she was just an object and not a living human being - without seeking her will?!

Thus, Yogis appear to have advised 'common man' to look 'inwards' and not 'outwards', that is perhaps not to judge on the basis of what appears to one's eyes (or 'defective' physical senses), and instead to use the ESP that is dormant and needs to be activated!

The outwardly beautiful earth (as captured by 'artists' such as Laurent) has in its heart or core hot molten rock (dealt/ observed by 'scientists' such as 'gologists'/ 'volcanologists')!
Thus each one is doing some useful work, and hence the saying, "He also serves who just stands and stares." But who will make the 'king' realise it? And hence Mirabai said addressing to Krishna, to the effect, "You give thrones to fools while Pundits wander as beggars!"

"Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder."

Dr.Anil Joshi said...

Joshi Uncle,If we are indeed the puppets on the string the onus of our actions lies with the puppeteer...isn't it?The thought may sound escapist but it is true!Yudhishthir literally means the one with a Steady mind & thinking. The aberration of the game of dice was the deliberate creation of the puppeteer...Imagine Mahabharat without the infamous Game of Dice?It is not at all the justification of Yudhisthir...I just want to say it was predestined in a way....!

Kavitha, Speaking in ‘mundane terms’, ‘I’ had first seen the ‘Scindia Temple’ in a music video featuring Dr. Palash Sen and his group, called Euphoria (meaning ‘a mood of elation’, or ‘a feeling of well-being’, unlike Laurent’s ‘evanescence’, that is, just as human or material life is believed to be ‘kshanabhangur’ or ‘fleeting’ or ‘transitory’ in comparison with the apparent life span of earth-moon, say as datum, ‘a flash in the pan’).

But ‘I’ wasn’t then aware of the said name of the ‘tilting temple’ (also ‘I’ believe everyone is aware of the believable tilt in earth’s axis too, and ‘I’ am convinced - from the description of ‘Shiva’ by ancient Hindus - of earth as Shiva of Hindu mythology, whose ‘present abode’ is believed to be Mt. Kailash and, therefore, He, believably undisturbed in ‘samadhi’, keeps His Third Eye on ‘His Own Images’!)...

In the video, ‘I’ saw, and also enjoyed besides the music the sight (like a ‘Son et lumiere’ presentation) of children climbing to the top of the temple and jumping into the ‘Mother Ganges’ water repeatedly and enjoying it, least bothered about the ‘truth’ and different beliefs!

It reminded me also of my watching and enjoying from a distance for long the bliss writ on the face of a swimmer in a swimming pool in Kolkata in the late Seventies.

Instead of animation, he had chosen to lie on his back close to one end of the pool, virtually still, keeping his feet folded like a typical yogi in ‘padmasan’, that is, the ‘lotus pose’, while the ripples on the surface rocked him gently – a ‘mother and child’ relation! It reminded me of a line in a popular song, "Jhoola jhoole Nandgopal/ Jhulaye Yashoda Nandrani."

JC said...

Hi Dr Anilji, ‘I’ saw your question/ answer after ‘I’ had already posted my comment above.

Yes, with the background of the perfect character named 'Shiva' the immortal indicated as the best of all times (100% efficiency) achieved only at the end of Satyuga, the character named in Dwaperyuga (time duration of max. 50% efficiency achievable by mortals), ‘Yudhistir’ is yoga of words ‘yuddha’, that is, battle (or action) and ‘sthir’ that is stationary (immovable or inaction)...

And in the Gita, Yogeshwar Krishna advises Arjun to remain ‘stithapragya’ or immovable, unmoved by the apparent chaos around him in the environment. The same concept suggested for ‘common man’ by 'Hindus' through ‘meditation’, i.e., taking out some time from the routine of day-to-day life and performing minimum innocuous actions initially, with a view to reaching eventually a thoughtless stage when time is ripe (after fulfillment of normal duties of a house-holder and reaching a stage, called ‘sanyas’)…

In Tretayuga (of maximum possible 75% efficiency), the character named Lakshamana, [younger brother of Lord Rama, the eldest ‘suryavanshi’ prince, both sons of ‘Dasharatha’, which indicates the one who has control over all the 10 directions like a charioteer who is supposed to control a chariot that is driven by ten horses], again indicates yoga of two words, ‘Lakshya’, that is goal, and ‘mun’, that is ‘mind’, the name thus indicating a person who always has the desired objective, or goal in mind…

Thus, even with the above in one's mind, one could perhaps have had a peep into the mind of ‘wise ancients’ via the popular stories that entertain even the ‘commonest man’ (below the ‘poverty line’) in ‘India’ even if one isn’t aware how ‘Hindus’ came to be known as such by the ‘foreigners’ (that is each one of us today)! Who, due to lack of knowledge do not know that all humans, and also ‘inferior animals’ are ‘Hindus’, for they have the essence of MOON in their heads, the highest pedestal occupied by the GURU, the MOTHER of all mothers, called by the general name PARVATI the daughter of the Himalayas and thus also called ‘shailputri’ and also by many other names!

JC said...

And, the ‘inferior animals’ are believed by the present day ‘life scientists’ to have appeared on earth over 3 billion years ago - during the over 4 billion years as the present estimated age of earth - in the form of e-coli an ordinary micro-organism, whereas the most evolved MAN, according to them, landed here only some few million years ago!

Unfortunately for them and for the ‘present day Hindus’ also who are exposed to ‘western thoughts only’, they aren’t aware, and are also most unwilling to know the ancient but advanced ‘Hindu thoughts’ that are believably carried forth since time immemorial, thanks too the believable 'slavery of time'.

They, however, have indicated 1080 cycles of all four Yugas, or Mahayugas or a Kalpa (each totaling to 4.32 million years) to take place during one day (of mental and physical actions) in the unending life of Brahma (the sun, as one of the components of the three-in-one God in physical forms)…which is believed to be followed by His night of the same duration for rest (inaction)… till another fresh day begins, as per a grand design.

Thus one can call it ‘destiny’ or happening of events being predetermined based on teh concerend Yuga, from Satyuga to Kaliyuga, and passage of time in yers, hours, minutes, seconds, and now microseconds also as we approach the believable beginning of creation…for the review of events is believed to take place from 100% stage achieved at the end of Satyuga, around 4.6 billion years ago to end of Kaliyuga...

It is like watching a recorded film in reverse order as 'I' saw reflected in a music video with the title 'Enigma' (meaning anything or anyone puzzling or inexpliczble etc)...

Yes, God is deinitely an enigma!

JC said...

Kavitha, You write, I am like a temple,,," but 'I' believe 'I' myself am a temple, a mobile one, that carries the weightless deity within me, at my 'mooladhar', that is constantly egging me to lift it up to 'my head' to remove the darkness of ignorance there!

'I' am thankful to have come across a novel written by a 'foreigner', a 'westerner' who told me why a 'Hindu' says namaste with folded hands to another person?! For, he prays to the God within!

And, 'I' also learnt from some book that 'Hindus' believe that God could appear in any form! And, therefore the saying, "Atithi devo bhava." Where 'atithi' means the one who comes to your door-step unannounced!

However, thanks to it being Kaliyuga, even my right hand doesn't trust my left hand!

'I' further learnt how the formless and therefore wightless, and also deaf and dumb deity within 'me' is lodged at 'my mooladhar', like a prisoner, and is wanting 'me' to lift it to the head where it could help shed some light and dispel the darkness of ignorance!

As per the available hints, 'I' have to look within myself and try to read the 'sign language' to learn how to develop rapport with it, that is tune my mind to its own frequency, 'OM', perhaps which is beyond the 'normal range' of the three octaves! Children believably being closer to God love high decibel sounds (Nadbindu- like, perhaps), whereas the 'wise munis' (word derived from 'maun') suggested silence!

Thus the choice is perhaps difficult, because of the inherent nature of man, for when one is alone, one seeks company; and bored with the crowd, one seeks solitude! Thus the pendulum swings - like the cradle Yashoda used for infant Krishna. He however, perhaps refused to grow up and has preferred to remain Nirakar or formless!

Someone said, "The art of growing is to remain a child!"

Kavitha Kalyan said...

The art of growing is to remain a child - what a line!

Looks like growing is all about unlearning what we have been fed with when we were kids.. how to be, how to do, what to be, what to do...

But there is beauty in it, give them what they want and then do what you like, and no one questions you.

I was watching the video of Shankaracharya yesterday. There was so much meaning to his existence, there was so much sense in life... there was direction, aim and now there is nothing, there is pure anarchy.

This country needs a religious leader who will show the way of tolerance. Someone like Shankara... who said follow your faith with dignity... and dont make a war out of it. He never preached hinduism... he knew what Hinduism is.

and then i wonder... in all these centuries there were only one shankara, only one buddha, only one christ, only one chaitanya, only one ramana maharishi, and there are billions of us!!

Kavitha

Kavitha, One needs to remain conscious that ‘life’ is a journey from zero (Absolute Truth) to infinity (the various possible innumerable truths of zero itself that fill the Big zero void of the universe), and their repetitive cycles - expressed in its essence by “shanti-OM-shanti-OM-shanti-OM…” that is unending cycles or chain of ‘silence-Big Bang-silence, and so on eternally, such that the ‘illusory characters’ viz. Buddha etc can be considered as milestones that act as landmarks on way to one’s desired destination…

The Bhagavad Gita that is ‘the song of God’, as a landmark, in verses indicates - among the innumerable illusory characters - poets as typical examples of yogis who, bees-like, help in presenting the essence of the various untruths, seen through their eyes, and which thus help fill the libraries...however, as Sant Tulsidas, the author of Ramayana -the story of Lord Rama carried forth through ages by various writers as it appeared to each one from their own view-point - in the language of the'common man' said, to the effect, “God in physical form seen depends on each individual’s inclination of mind.”

As an example, ‘I’ give below Khalil Gibran’s quote that appeared in ‘my newspaper’ in its magazine section as part of a game (Scramble): “Keep me away from the wisdom which does not cry, the philosophy which does not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before the children.”

Krishna, as a child, is worshipped by many as 'Bal Gopal'.

Even in a documentary in modern times, someone showed a beach, full of people - the grown ups reclining (Vishnu-like!) while the children were seen incessantly running.

And the anchor concluded that if one wanted to know why God has given limbs to man, one should look at the children!

‘I’ saw mischievous Nadbindu’s original expanding form, (also symbolically represented by the first letter of the alphabet ‘A’ that could also stand for ‘Atom Bomb’ the source of ‘Big Bang’!), through the octave, the musical notes being practiced by debutants, (irrespective of their 'age', caste, sex, creed and so on), the ascending notes (‘aroha’) followed by the descending ones (‘avroha’) - till one is tuned up properly like a string instrument, say Saraswati Veena, under the guidance of a Guru to eventually hope to reach Swami Haridas’ level, say or any other character as a ‘role model’ - as below.

Sa (1) => Re (2) => Ga (3) => Ma (4) => Pa (5) => Dha (6) => Ni (7) => SA (8) - (Aroha)

Sa (8) <= Re (7) <= Ga (6) <= Ma (5) <= Pa (4) <= Dha (3) <= Ni (2) <= SA (1) (Avroha)

Also, maybe some ‘scientists’ also can perhaps ‘see’ the reflections of the above ascending and descending curves, in graphical representations at any location in space of, say, rainfall patterns, flood waves, population curves, and so on…and perhaps even in the ‘rise and fall’ of all ‘mighty empires’ – just as ‘Indraprastha’, that is DELHI, appears to have featured (notoriously) as such in the History of 'India'!

JC said...

‘I’ can’t say if the ‘scientists’ today can see the message conveyed through ‘inferior life’, say in the forms of Spider (on the surface of earth) and Octopus (under the sea), say, and connect it with the ‘Hindu belief’ of Durga the ‘eight-handed’, spinner of spider’s web-like illusion, as MOON and its ‘eight hands’ represented by selected members of the solar system from Sun or ‘Surya’ (the fixed heavenly body, reflected through its models in human forms, viz. Brahma, Ram, Arjun, and so on) through Saturn or Shani (called 'Suryaputra' that is ‘son of sun’) the slow moving ring-planet (sudershanchakradhari Vishnu, the 'Nadbindu'), both acting as the limiting boundaries…

The Yogis indicated man as the model of the universe, with the solar system as its ‘essence’ or ‘satva’ that got reflected in the use of the word ‘satya’ that is ‘truth’…

Only Time will perhaps tell…however, from their mental attitude, as seen from the majority of the ‘present day scientists’, it doesn’t look probable...but no one can definitely say because ‘miracles’ appear to do happen!

JC said...

Talking of Delhi - the present day seat of the ‘democratic’ government - that was believably called ‘Indraparastha’ in Dwaperyuga, when Krishna ruled Gujarat and Kuru Kings/ Pandavas, Krishna’s friends, ruled with their capital in Indraprastha.
We have already seen earlier also how ‘Indra’, the King of ‘devtas’ and also the devta, or demigod, responsible for ‘potable rainwater’, (in the ‘present day terms’), could easily be identified as our Sun, even with the half-baked background knowledge so far attained about ‘our’ solar system/ galaxy/ universe by the ‘western scientists’. And, Krishna can be associated with Centre of our galaxy…

[However, the 'present' is accepted as the ‘Christian Era’, the time (Kaliyuga to a ‘Hindu’) that perhaps acts as a hurdle (that is ‘vighna’, to a ‘Hindu’, in the path to the ‘Absolute truth’). And thus, as part of a grand design, the time deprives the ‘west’ of the advantage they could have otherwise had. Because, the knowledge that is already available in ‘Hindu’ writings being in code words, due to lack of overall knowledge it is being related foolishly with ‘religion’, and a new word coined for it as ‘HINDUISM’, believably a religion of ‘blind followers’ and ‘idol worshippers’!]

In addition to it, they have also been able to record the sound that apparently emanates from our Sun, and they have found it akin to the sound produced by a harp, that is a stringed musical instrument, which is generally associated in the ‘west’ with Angels.
And, although the ‘Hindus’ also since time immemorial similarly associated Veena, a stringed musical instrument with Saraswati the Goddess of knowledge (in code words)! She is also depicted pictorially in a white Sari with Veena in hand, thus associating her with energy in the form of ‘white’ sunrays, just as the destructive energy is depicted as a black-bodies goddess having a red tongue...

And, besides that Saraswati is also indicated as the consort of Brahma, one of the three aspects of Trimurty Shiva (B-V-M), who is pictorially shown seated in a red lotus flower that believably evolved from the navel of Vishnu who reclines on the bed formed by the celestial serpent Sheshnag, in the middle of the ‘Kshirsagar’, that is, literally ‘milky-ocean’, which alludes to a large number of stars that are found in all galaxies that fill the entire void of the universe..…

Vedantis however indicate the Creator as Formless energy and all physical forms as illusory images, or mirror-like reflections that existed as the various truths in the 'past' as described in hte Vedas etc.!

JC said...

And, the Yogis indicated human form as the superior most creation, a model of the universe itself! They reached the realization - in the caves (the believable beginning of humans during ‘Cave Age’) deep inside the Himalayan forests after ‘tapasya’ or Yogic exercises leading to a thoughtless state - that permutations and combinations of essences of selected ‘9’ members of the solar system, from Sun to Saturn, were used in the human form for reflecting the overall variety as it is apparent in ‘Nature’ through different Yugas…
At least in the ‘present’ it doesn’t appear the ‘scientists’ are ever capable of reaching the ‘truth’ that was reached by the ancients who expressed it in the saying, the ‘satva’ or essence of the philosophy in just 3 words, “Satyam Shivam Sunderam”. And employed numeral ‘3’ also to represent the three-in-one physical form, B-V-M, the true image of the Formless, sound energy expressed in the form of sound energy, through word ‘OM’…And the interesting part is that letter ‘O’ can also be read as the numeral ‘0’ that could help represent the formless, while ‘M’ could graphically represent, say a river valley, viz. the Gangetic plains, and Hindus’ realization of 'Moon' as the source of water on earth reflected by the letter!

La lune is really madenning, and perhaps so because its essence is rightly believed to be housed in human head and is graphically indicated thus in Shiva's forehead too!

But, in His case it makes Him a 'cool dude' perhaps because He alone is the 'truth', the 'all knowing', and images as is commonly known even to the 'common man' are known to be illusory!

Chandrayan, the scheduled 'Indian moon mission' and celebration of 'Diwali' with crackers in advance at Mohali (thanks to Sachin setting up a new record in scoring the highest numbers of run in cricket during his 19 years carreer), particularly Diwali, the ‘festival of light’ brings to ‘my’ mind the thought of ‘Nadbindu’ and the believable ‘Big Bang’.

I recall that as a child, ‘I’, or/ rather all young boys residing in the same colony, learnt to make from a Bengali friend the Diwali cracker called ‘anar’, literally the fruit called ‘pomegranate’.

It is named thus because its hollow shell is made from 'earth', by potters in that shape, which we used to buy from one in a market that wasn’t very close to our colony, and therefore we used to travel by bicycles.

The shells had a round opening at the top (in the beginning closed by us, using home-made glue from flour, by pasting a small square piece of paper on the outer side - that needed to be scratched before lighting the cracker).

A bigger opening was left at its otherwise flat base, for filling tightly the dried-in-sun powdered mixture of ‘shora’ (Ammonium Nitrate), ‘gandhak’ (Sulphur), charcoal, iron filings (for reddish sparkles, and sometimes aluminium filings too were added for blue coloured sparkles).

The shell used to be filled only up to about two-third depth and was then packed tightly with pieces of old newspapers and finally plugged with wet clay, which was then dried in sun by keeping the ‘anar’, the base facing upwards.

Although, its manufacture involved lot of labour, and a few days time for making powder of the various ingredients, but it was virtually blissful when our self-made anars’ sparkles reached almost 30 feet compared to hardly 15 feet or even lesser height reached by the ones we used to buy from the market, that too at relatively higher price!

However, it wouldn’t have been possible had we not been fortunate enough to have a friend cum Guru who those days used to win first prize in the competition arranged in the Kalibari, or Kali’s Temple, during Kali Puja, as it is called in Bengal.

Not very long ago only could ‘I’ realize why Bengalis called Diwali as 'Kali Puja', with the background knowledge that Ma Kali is a symbolic representation of destructive energy in a female form having a protruding red coloured tongue. Also, she is indicated to have her abode in Shiva’s heart - pointing her as the centre of our planet earth...

And, thus only a ‘Hindu’, having been exposed to such an environment right from the birth and also having a 'spiritual inclination' can perhaps correlate Diwali with a volcano when it erupts and in its wake apparently wreaks havoc due to lava overflowing its crater, burning all that come in its path till the drama lasts. However, on cooling down, the material that appeared red turns black and subsequently results in enriching the soil that had otherwise lost its life giving elements due to human activities, which perhaps can be said to be on account of lack of overall knowledge and thus exploitation blindly of ‘Nature’ by us humans!

Kavitha, Although it is perhaps like a lecture meant for Post graduate students, but delivered to class V students, I keep on bombarding the thoughts as I understood those, in mundane terms. For creation and destruction of the universe is indicated to have occurred instantaneously, because the Creator is unborn and unending, being related to zero time and space...

'I' am told that there was a history teacher who used to tell his students that he was like a farmer who was sowing seeds even in a barren land - hoping that some day some seeds might germinate!

"Reference Beyond The Moon, by Shir Mukul Sharma, when ‘I’ was a child, ‘I’ was proud to learn that ‘India’ gave ‘zero’ to the world, and that the numerals ‘0’ to ‘9’ came to be popularised as ‘Arabic Numerals’, just because then backward ‘western world’ came to learn about them through the Arabs. History tells us that when ‘India’ was inhabited by an advanced civilization, Europeans were barbarians!
In the ‘present’, however due to a tilt in the balance, thanks to time, and thus apparent superiority of ‘west’, we are now being told that the ‘present day’ intelligent human race all over the globe has its root in the African Continent! Shri MS also writes, “Ever since humans came out of Africa, exploration has always been in their bloods.”
Maybe, one needs to learn from the Banyan: How it is difficult to identify the ‘original root’ because of its characteristic property of sending numerous roots down to the earth from its branches, (believably thanks to the ‘grand design’ by the one and only Supreme Being, as per ancient Hindus’ realisation). Also, interestingly, this characteristic is clearly exhibited in humans, say as seen in the similar spread of ‘Buddhism’…
If anyone is interested in knowing the ‘Truth’ of ‘Hindu thoughts’, perhaps what one needs today is to see the video song titled Enigma (made in the ‘advanced west’ itself), and then visualise how events would then appear if a film with a properly thought out script is cleverly shot in the normal way, but its projection is watched on the screen with the reel run backwards! For the Hindu thought suggests events to be appearing in cycles 1080 times, every time from Satyuga to Kaliyuga (from 100% human efficiency to 0%), that is, in reverse order in which evolution had originally apparently occurred!
It was only at the end of Satyuga that perfection was reached and human form - as it appears even today but malfunctions due to time - was created as a model of the infinite universe, and our solar system as its essence, utilising essences of 9 planets from Sun to Saturn, with highest pedestal given to MOON, whose essence is housed in the head of each human!"

JC said...

Just as there is apparent hierarchy in the numerals, there is hierarchy between the members of the solar system or ‘grahas’, as well as in animals too, in each species of ‘life’…

[Ancient Hindus, or Yogis, called any member of the solar system ‘graha’, thus making no differentiation between sun and planets. Also, through interesting stories, they cleverly conveyed similarity between these members and a mugger that also was called ‘graha’. That is, each member was conveyed to hold energy/ information like a crocodile in its powerful jaws is seen to hold even an elephant, the believably strongest among all animals!]

With above as background, ’I’ therefore can imagine the human structure akin to an eight-storey building. And, the essences of each one of the grahas could be imagined as the occupant of one of the eight floors. And, could imagine them to interact between each other also in one of the floors (like having ‘satsang’, or ‘get-together’, among humans at different locations)…

However, if these residents didn’t rise to the common roof, they would remain ‘koop-mandooks’ or ‘frogs in the well’! A yogi therefore could similarly be seen to perform Yogic exercises to make all these residents within him/ her to climb to the roof – to get an overall view, or/ rather the biggest possible view, although each 'expert' might get from its own floor, through different windows placed in all four outside walls, a relatively limited view of the ‘outside world’…

Maybe, (if it be His will though!)from the above the ‘wise’ today also might realize what the ‘wise ancients’ also saw and realized - even in the Himalayan caves - after having collected sufficient data in the routine day-to-day life for a few decades, say…and suggested to ‘common man’ also to perform detachment while being attached to ‘routine life’…

Mention of the life-giving waters of the Ganges, helps ‘me’ recall ‘my chance meeting’, during my early days as a fresh engineering graduate, with one of the senior boys of my elder brother’s age after a long time. He had once been our neighbour in our colony in the late forties/ early fifties.

‘I’ learnt from him that his younger brother had graduated from AFMC, Pune and thus was a doctor in the Indian Army, and thus ‘happily settled’. Whereas as was known to us too, after joining as a cadet in Merchant Navy he himself had become a ‘fifth-engineer’ and had traveled far and wide.

However, he said he was bored having to see only seawater most of the time and seeing the same faces day in and day out and, therefore, proposed to resign and get married and settle down at some place, such as Kolkata. During long journeys that some times lasted almost a month, he said he would just sit in his own cabin as they had nothing new to exchange with the colleagues and subordinates. He added that sometimes he virtually wept!
‘I’ sometimes wonder if it is the boredom of grahas that gets reflected through their models too! A poet addressing the immortal being reflected similar thought in the line, to the effect, “We (humans) have got bored, what about you?”

Brilliant! Joshi uncle, you have just echoed the pulse of the human mind in its current state.

The speed that life has taken up, and the stress caused because of constant action or inaction (which is more mental than physical these days) of the mind is a cause for concern.

We want sensation in our lives.. obvious sensation. And there has been so much dished out that we do not realize that spiritualism bring subtle everlasting sensations after hard work.

We are a confused bunch of people who dont know which way to go but just reduce our worship to pure mechanics.

Where is the appreciation to life? The appreciation to slow living? Its all become a rotten proving game to stay put in the rat race.

As Shankaracharya put it, we need to better our quality of living, and not the standard of living.

Kavitha

Hi Kavitha, It is generally said that words cannot convey exactly what the speaker/ writer intended. However, for the ‘wise’ only a hint might suffice! For example, if you have tasted a fruit, say a mango, and you see me eating one and hear me say that it is sweet, or good, you would know to a certain extent only what ‘I’ meant, becaue you can recall the taste recorded in your memory at that time as also the emotion experienced - but cannot exactly come to know the taste of the particular mango 'I' eat!

Talking of common realization in ‘east’ as well as ‘west’, that is, where they could meet in the thoughts,as we have discussed earlier too, this morning while playing the game of 'scramble' in my newspaper’s magazine section, ‘I’ came across an interesting quote credited to Thomas Jefferson: “A mind always employed is always happy. This is the true secret, the grand recipe for felicity.”

Perhaps the quote relates to the the third President of the United States (1801–1809) by that name.

As per Wikipedia, “A political philosopher, Jefferson was a man of the Enlightenment and knew many intellectual leaders in Britain and France… A polymath, Jefferson achieved distinction as, among other things, a horticulturist, statesman, architect, archaeologist, paleontologist, author, inventor, and founder of the University of Virginia… When President John F. Kennedy welcomed forty-nine Nobel Prize winners to the White House in 1962 he said, "I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent and of human knowledge that has ever been gathered together at the White House – with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."

In short, perhaps one could, in this character, find a reflection of mischievous Krishna, the Yogiraja or all rounder representative of Yogeshwar Vishnu/ Shiva. In the Gita, He too says that he works incessantly, every moment. And, God is described as ‘eternal bliss’ (where bliss means, ‘the highest degree of happiness’; blessedness; felicity), and as a model of God, an average man, in his day-to-day life can perhaps find its reflection in the state of happiness even in 'small things/ acts'…

Re :" i am like a temple", its interesting to recollect that according to traditional architecture, a dwelling ( for humans or the divinity) has to be built like a human body with areas demarcated as metaphors for Head, heart, abdomen etc for corresponding functions of life like sleeping, working, eating etc. And giving respect to the body as a temple cultivates the discipline of not abusing it in any manner.....The scindia temple looks unusual. Its a wonder its still standing.....theres a discussion here abt. the imponderable existential query " who am I". I remember reading long ago Swami Rama's answer to a poser on the purpose of life: " why should everything have a purpose, a reason ? Air IS, space IS, sound IS. I AM. You ARE. That that is,Is." Years later i am still trying to figure out if the swami was being profound or just kidding ! :-)

Hi Yoshee, Even the ‘wisest of the wise Hindus’ appear to have failed to reach the purpose of the ‘immortal Supreme Being’ - in creating and simultaneously destroying the entire universe, say due to His being related with zero time and space.

However, it is believably conveyed by it that it is reviewing Hiw Own Hisotory, the phenomenon like ‘action replay’ in slow motion, for its unknown purpose…

In view of the above, the ‘Yogis’ advised the ‘common man’ to just witness the replay actions, like a spectator of a drama as its reflection…

Maybe, you can visualize the ‘truth’ through your own helplessness in seeing the ‘Jain Temple environment’ going to dogs, but yourself unable to be of any assistance…and perhaps, therefore, remain a witness thereof believing it as God’s will, or part of a grand design, whereby you might find yourself as one of the innumerable characters in the drama that appears to be nearing its end – but for long to humans who apparently have a life-span of about 100 years in ‘material form’, which for the formless creator is zero! And thus for ‘elevated souls’ things could apparently happen in no time – they could disappear from one location and reappear at another location!

JC said...

The ancient ‘wise Hindus’, or highly elevated souls in the forms of “yogis’ indicated, after in-depth studies, the soul as one of the components of the unique Nadbindu the Supreme Being (a special form of unending energy) lodged in each physical form (obtained by conversion of some part of energy into matter) as a prisoner, the total energy however divided in eight chakras within the animal form.

Also, that each soul as per a grand design was obliged to move in a cycle, such that each physical form evolved from dust to human form after passing through 8.4 million animal forms before any soul could appear inside a human form for the first time. And thereafter also it is obliged to continue to move either upwards or downwards till it could at any stage after attaining human form only could rejoin the Supreme Being once again.
The Gita, however, indicates the only purpose of human life is to realise the Formless God as well as gods with forms…

The various practices to attain this goal is indicated in ‘India’ (and practiced at all other places on the globe too, where it’s possible) by worship of any and virtually all forms, from a mouse (Ganesha’s vehicle) to a mountain (Mount Goverdhan, near Mathura and related with Krishna, whose Supreme form is indicated as Lord Vishnu/ Shiva, or Mount Kailash, in Tibet, China, as abode of Shiva-Parvati as the most evolved form of Krishna, and so on almost all mounts in 'India'). And, also certain spots on earth itself on the bank of any river that carries ‘life-giving water’, say for example, besides Indus (due to which the most advanced civilisation got its name), and particualarly the holiest of all holi rivers Ganges, at Haridwar, Allahabad, Kashi (the original abode of Shiva)…and also Narmada that too is asociated with Shiva, and many other rivers in ‘South India’, such as, Godavari, Kaveri, and so on…

In short, Hindus pointed at earth and moon as Shiva-Parvati of the mythology in physical form (that together believably helped water to rise to the surface of earth-moon, perhaps after moon evolved from it.)

A ‘hydrologist’, that is an ‘expert’ or in general a ‘scientist’ dealing with water would tell you that the amount of water on earth is constant: it is naturally available at any time and location (on earth, or air, or underground) in either of the three phases or forms: solid, or liquid, or gas (clouds)…

The water cycle that connects all the waters on earth is believably thus in existence since time immemorial…And, Hindus therefore considered ‘water’ as one of the ‘panchabhootas’, besides similarly, earth, energy (fire for the ‘common man’), air, and ‘sky’ for common man meaning atmosphere/ space for the ‘present day literates…and observing the natural characteristic property of water in rivers and seas, related with ‘life’ and ‘death’ of animal life, they found the waters of Ganges the best, while that in the seas, although also demonstrating a grand variety, as generally unfit for human consumption. However, it is known to harbour many more forms of ‘aquatic life’, many species of which still remain to be encoiuntered and identified yet, despite relatively ‘high advancement in technology’…

‘I’ might add here that much more needs to be known about human form itself as a ‘super computer’ as realized in the ‘present’ also by ‘scientists’ as reflected humn brain as an analogical computer.

As an example of the likely capability is reflected to some extent in what ‘I’ had earlier also narrated as 'my' personal encounter with a ‘tantric’ in the eighties in Guwahati, northeast ‘India’.

The meeting was arranged by a colleague in connection with treatment of my wife who suffered from Rh. Arthritis, which he failed to do, but he predicted almost a fortnight in advance occurrence of heart attack in some one relative of mine just by looking at my face!

The said ‘relative’ turned out to be my father who was that time located thousands of kilometers away at our home town, in Almora in Uttarakhand - in the Himalayas - that 'by chance’ happens to be located almost at the same altitude as Meru Town in Kenya in the ‘Dark Continent’ (and Hindu yogis called the human spinal column as ‘merudand’, since time immemorial)!

‘I’ received the news through a telegram from by eleder brother who had reached there from New Delhi, that is, ‘Indraprastha’…

JC said...

‘I’ had earlier also narrated my first visit to Kamakhya Temple almost resisting it for five months, after arrival in Guwahati, my wife’s requests off and on to visit it, and also the logic behind it, for ‘I’ agreed with the belief that the Supreme Being responsible for the entire infinite universe is present everywhere, even within all animal forms. And, therefore, one could see everything worshipped in our country, including the ‘chair’, although apparently thrones are abolished!

And, a ‘Hindu’ once upon a time was advised to remain conscious of the unseen Creator, and all apparent physical forms as its ‘inferior images’ that reflected a grand hierarchy form ‘0’ to ‘8’, the number which when written horizontally indicates ‘infinity’, and in Hindu mythology it is associated with Krishna the representative of Vishnu, who is associated with number ‘9’ (ring-planet Saturn in ‘Navagraha’) that is ‘zero’ the formless, but with a tail to indicate it as its physical form, like Ganesha and his mouse as vehicle)… everyone was thus free to worship any physical form he desired to choose, depending on one’s location and the practice continued in that region, while remaining conscious of the formless…

Thus Ganesha as well as Lakshami the believable consort of Vishnu (the material form that holds the formless within) both came to be called 'Shri', a word indicating respect. And to generate consciousness in humans, the prefix 'Shri' is ritually used with a 'Hindu' name, since time immemorial...although its relevance might have been forgotten due to 'time'...

‘I’ must however frankly admit that each and every thing/ person is playing some important role as part of a grand design. And, therefore, temples also seem to play theirs, as can be realized with the help of the example of the ‘pyramids’, in Egypt, and in ‘vimanas’ in Hindu temples, and spires in churches in ‘India’ and elsewhere too, as these shapes and their orientation seem to generate some ‘energy’ at the ‘grbha griha’, the ‘sanctum sanctorum’, just as the name ‘pyramid’ that is ‘fire within’ itself also reflects.

It was only after our first visit to Kamakhya Temple that the ‘tantrik’ cum snake venom supplier had visited me the first time, and subsequently also whenever he was in Guwahati and had caught some snake near our residence, for it was located close to a hill where he used to find some. And, for reason not known, he made it a point to show those to me and educate me about them and other snakes also, in general.

And, perhaps that visit and subsequent visits to Kamakhya Temple was responsible for certain incidents that happened around me, some of which ‘I’ have narrated in your blog earlier also, for ‘my scientific background’ also couldn’t explain those. Such as the one where my the then 10 yr-old daughter announced in advance, almost at its Scheduled time of departure from New Delhi (that is ‘Indraprastha’) cancellation of my flight to Imphal, the capital of Manipur on my mother’s third death anniversary day that ‘I’ wasn’t aware of, as the related annual rites are being traditionally performed by my elder brother. ‘I’ realised it only after the event, perhaps conforming to the ‘time’ when in the ‘present’, we all apparently are ‘after the event wise’!

Talking of numbers 0 to 9, and the creator as Devi or Mother, ‘I’ recall that ‘my father’ came and stayed with us before he breathed his last, nearly at the age of 81.

During discussions, one day he told me that the month of April apparently had some importance in his life, for most of the important events, such as his marriage to my mother and many promotions in the government service, happened during that month.

‘I’ was therefore surprised that ‘I’ hadn’t expected that he would ultimately pass away on the 4th day of the 4th month! Thus, perhaps indicating mischievous Krishna’s hand, for 4+4 is ‘8’, and he himself was named ‘Hari Krishna’, while his wife, named ‘Hari Priya’ (same as Vishnu’s consort, Lakshami), bore him 8 children, like Krishna’s mother Devki believably did! But, in their case, 6 of us siblings have, so far thankfully, continued even after our mother passed away on the 8th day of December, eight years earlier!

And ‘I’ noticed similarly that ‘I’ was married in the month of December, on the 2nd day, while my wife too passed away in the same month, but on the 4th day…

Thus the month of December appears to have some importance in my life too, like it also apparently ‘coincidentally’ has great importance related with Jesus, and his mother Mary.

And, thus my initials, JC, have always reminded me of Jesus Christ too! And, also all such names, like that of Julius Caesar, Jagdish Chandra (Basu, one of the greatest ‘Indian’ scientists, and anyway Jagdish, literally Lord of earth, means God!), and so on!

But ‘I’ am also conscious of what an Urdu language poet said, to the effect, “We know the reality of Heaven/ however, it’s a good idea for keeping us engaged.” And, ‘wise Hindus’ realized the earth illusory (‘mithya jagat’, or a market where only lies are sold)!

JC said...

The background knowledge of some energy or ‘fire’ (one of the panchbhootas for ‘Hindus’) generated within the pyramids/ vimanas/ spires etc. made me recall that ‘I’ read somewhere that some tribals, and some Yogis too as ‘I’ got to read in Yogananda Paramhanwa’s book, believed souls, (or energy forms), to remain immobile at some ‘dark place’ from where each soul gets to see some projection, (by sunlight perhaps), creating a sensation of animation (perhaps as a reflection of it, in a dark hall and seated virtually motionless glued to our seats, we believably see a recorded reel moving in front of a source of light that creates an illusion of animation on a ‘silver screen’ that help generate various emotions)…

And, 'wise Hindus' believed the Supreme Being, Nadbindu/ Bhootnath Shiva (who has Ma Kali in His heart), responsible for 'maya' that is illusion! While the ancients believed Earth (that is its centre) as the centre of the universe, till the concept of Sun as the central source of energy that 'moved the earth', mooted through a character in the 'west', named Copernicus, and his followers like Galileo (in Kaliyuga, the Dark Age), apparently acted as mediums for an opposite view-point.

Seen through the 'Hindu eyes' that the present is Kliyuga when poison ruled and the Absolute Truth (represented by the apex of the pyramid) was eventually evolved only at the end of Satyga, and that only the immortal Formless, Bhootnath Shiva, represented by Shivlinga in material form, is the 'Truth'...

And, thus not only the leaning tower of Pisa/ Scindhia Temple disappeared instantaneously but so also did all other physical forms that appear to fill the infinite void of the universe - seen through 'Hindu's eyes, as cinema-like projections in the 'Third Eye' of Shiva that each one of us also was'

Apparently each and every ‘form of life’ on earth has the natural capability to communicate with the life of its own kind, whether it has a man-like brain or not. Thus even a micro-organism must be communicating with other micro-organisms of the same species (just as each human body cell is believed to communicate with other cells in a particular body).

Everyone right from one's birth apparently understands emotions related with the ‘basic needs’ of food, clothing, and shelter. However, as observed among all humans, irrespective of one’s apparent temporal and spatial location, one need to first learn some particular language, depending on the environment where one finds oneself. And also one has to develop individually the capacity to translate into action (mental or physical) thoughts received through various sources in that language, or in any other human language to which one has been exposed at some stage. And then one must also be physically able to perform voluntary actions after duly weighing the pros and cons thereof, with short term and long term outcomes in mind, if one is ‘wise’.

For a digital electronic computer, the term ‘gigo’, that is, ‘garbage in garbage out’ is quite popular. It however applies to super computers, that is, humans also.

And, this feature was believed most likely in the majority during Kaliyuga the Dark Age of believable duration 432,000 years when human efficiency or quality is the poorest. And it is believed to occur 1080 times in one day in Brahma’s unending life, each of duration over 4 billion years!

In view of the above the 'Hindu belief' conveys the events that had happened in no time, are being reviewed eternally to an enlarged scale: by an individual human being for an average duration of about 100 years, in the ‘present’, the quality of life apparently going from bad to worse with passage of time…

JC said...

The ‘Hindu belief’ conveys evolution to have taken place in four stages, described through four Yugas. One set of the four was reckoned as ‘Mahayuga’ or ‘Kalpa’. First stage, Kaliyuga, the initial Dark Age when poison and ignorance ruled, based on realization of Yogis by ‘entering the mind of God’ (the desire expressed by Stephen Hawking, which ‘Hindus’ however expressed as ‘merger of ‘atma’ or soul, with ‘Paramatma’ or Supreme soul), is believed of a duration equal to 432,000 years; second stage, Dwaperyuga, double of it; third stage, Tretayuga, three times of it; and the fourth and final stage, Satyuga, four times of it, the Mahayuga thus believably totals 4.32 million years. And they believed 1080 cycles of Mahayuga (perhaps rounded at some stage to 1000), to cover the 360 degrees of space during one day in the llife of Brahma, which points to the time reckoned after coming into existence of our solar system at a certain stage. Also they believed the Creator to be Formless and unborn and unending. Thus it is indicated that innumerable, or infinite numbers, cycles have already taken place nd are continued eternally.

A pyramid, or simply a triangle (a shape formed by three points, call tehm Brahma and Vishnu at the base and Shiva at the apex)), could help visualize pictorially to some convenient scale to represent the height corresponding to one Mahayuga, of 4.32 million years, and the base length corresponding to the number of days in one year. If the height is then divided into 10 parts, the first part from the bottom would represent duration of Kaliyuga, having relatively a much larger area at the base - for accommodating larger numbers of specimens of life forms - that gradually reduces as refinement is achieved. Similarly, with the reduced based now, the next two parts considered together would help visualize the duration of Dwaperyuga and further refinement carried during that period. Next, three parts considered together, similarly, would represent Treayuga. Now we would find a small tapering triangle, in place of the trapezium earlier and which can be visualize to represent Satyuga at the end of which only the point that represents the apex is left, for Shiva alone!

JC said...

‘Astronomers’ tell us that our now mature earth - thanks to constant bombardment of dust from space and evolution over time - alone sustains a grand variety of life forms and is in existence for over 4 billion years, although ever changing it still appears beautiful, was a ball of fire to start with, which the ‘Hindus’ - in code words - called Bhairavanath with moon visualized as a dog (perhaps a wolf at the beginning of evolution) attached with a leash to original fiery earth that was ‘Bhairavnath Shiva’ to a ‘Hindu’.
And, the ‘Hindu sages’ or Yogis who believed in use of ‘mantras’ or sound energy for liaising with the Creator, therefore, apparently created an early morning raga, called ‘Bhairava’, a rendition of musical notes in some predetermined order.

The ancient sages, believably based on realisation attained in the forests/ caves in the Himalayan ranges, prepared a set format for all different ragas that were created and were associated with some particular time during a day.

However, although the ascending and descending notes of the ragas were laid down, freedom to the artist concerned was allowed to play within the accepted limited boundary condition laid down for a particular raga, which are being ritually followed since time immemorial.

However, it’s possible that one might not be aware that the basic purpose for human life was realized as only to reach the formless creator, and not our apparent purpose of participation in the ‘rat race’ – thanks of course due to time being Kaliyuga!

JC said...

Man was realized a model of the universe, which in turn was realised as illusory – like projection of images on the ‘silver screen’ of a pre-recorded film in the past, or viewing one’s own reflection in a mirror many times during one day even, or sometimes reviewing one’s own pictures snapped through different cameras at different times in the past and recorded in an album from time to time, and thanks to time unable to believe some of my own images to really be mine (even when it is a matter of a few decades only)!

With a view to entering the unending creator’s mind, with the belief of learned ‘Hindus’ in mind that God is the Guru of all gurus, that is, He is the ‘Supreme Being’, ‘I’ am also reminded of my school days, and realize how life then was so simple (like Bholenath Shiva), and not that complicated as it appears ‘today’.

‘I’ progressed, step by step from Class 2 to Class 11 in the same school. For, it was realized too late that ‘I’ should ideally have been admitted to Class 1 the previous year!

My elder brother, a senior in the same school, talked to the Class Teacher, and after completing the formalities got myself admitted to Class 2!

However, one of my class fellows couldn’t digest how one could sit with him without passing examinations for Class 1 that he had passed? He therefore pushed me out of the classroom the next day!

Only after 2-3 days someone at home enquired from ‘me’ why I hadn’t been going to the school?

Once again my brother talked to the teacher and he in turn explained to the boys that ‘I’ had joined directly in that class. ‘I’ was then able to continue my further studies.

When ‘I’ became a bit mature, after having been declared successful in a particular Class, when we went to the ‘Class Teacher’ concerned to bid farewell, ‘I’ used to feel sorry for the teacher! For he remained in the same class whereas ‘I’ was progressing to the higher class!

Now, as an old man ‘I’ can perhaps realize the emotion when ‘I’ observe a little bit of similarity, as if being its reflection, when ‘I’ learn (although heard/ read many times) about Arjuna surpassing in the skill of archery his Guru, Dronacharya. And, not only that, how circumstances led him to kill even his own Guru in the battlefield, because due to Guru’s own compulsions he had chosen to support the ‘wrong side’!

And, Krishna in the Gita says there is no escape (for the soul) from the ‘kalchakra’ or the ‘time cycle’…Perhaps thus one was advised to remain a spectator of life’s drama, or improve one’s overall knowledge by attaching oneself more with Yogiraja Krishna, the all rounder responsible for the script, while trying to detach from the routine day-to-day life, to realise the 'Absolute Truth'…But, Krishna believbly works every second and, therefore, he doesn't permit any holidays (to the eternal soul)!
