This is not about temples, but about the Self. Today, i went back to Google search, to refresh my decaying knowledge in Math and went through circles again. There was something about it, not about solving the toughest problems, not about the complexity it can take you into but that one simple thing that we call a Constant, often taken for granted but never explained. This time i chose to make a connect.
There is a constant in everything, including our lives, the concept of circles just being another such example of how varied their behavior is and yet there is a Constant that seems to give character to them.
Its very similar with us. The thirst for truth brings a variety of opportunities into our lives at various stages which need not be socially acceptable. There are many moments when people comes face to face with themselves wondering whether they should make that move towards the truth or continue in their routines. Its a choice you make based on the trust you have in yourself to look for this Truth or Constant, and the courage you have to disconnect with your familiar world.
Yes, the familiar world that you define as home, and all the people and components that go into its making. You might have made it yourself during the hunt for your Constant, that which largely is a subconcious search surfacing on and off while it remotely connects with events in your life. Those are your moments of absolute excitement, excitement you cannot explain but just emote. There is a Constant within you, not necessarily defined with a formula, or given a form(religion tries to do that for you). I grew to realize this in a warped sort of way.
My first definition of a Constant as i saw it was with family, but it brought in its own share of problems/ instability and didnt seem to follow the definition i had laid out for it either in reality or conceptually or in subtle reality. I realized somewhere that family was not where the Constant was, as it was more of an external element and not entirely my own. I moved my Constant away from people and home, realizing pretty fast that they were incapable of such position purely on the grounds of expectation and rule sets laid down by role play- family, marriage, etc.
Somewhere down the line it dawned on me that my work, which i possible considered as my Constant for a while, was not the right place either. I ended up getting into more of people management since actual performace was being taken as a given (Its like "We also make steel" - TISCO). I also realized that my Constant doesn't depend on whimsical people around me for my Constant is way too important to be tossed around.
So here I am, redefining my Constant to myself, its something that is purely mine, and does not call for outside interference, that is anyone beyond me. My Constant is that which stays with me and i derive my energy from it to define myself, to live, to understand, to perform, to survive and make myself concious of it every moment in the day. My Constant is not for me to share, but to help anyone look for their own. My Constant is formless, and i have chosen to define as Shiva, nothing more, nothing less. My Constant is visible in the Beauty of Lord Shiva, its defined in his dance, its felt in his fury, its awakened in his third eye.

There seems a new dawn in your words. Constant is a small word compared to what you have found. You sound like an artist who has found the plane beyond the canvas. Your feet have found thier ground, so firm it's not earth.
This post is just in the entrance of the door looking into everything beyond.

Fools are those who refuse to accept what they know. It’s a realization that they lack, not the knowledge.
Maybe the following, although a bit too long, could perhaps help understand the essence of 'Hindu Philosophy':
The essence of the ultimate realization the ‘wise’ ancients reached was that the spectator of the universe is one and only one - a formless being, i.e., a dot, called Naadbindu, a point source of energy located at the centre.
The question: Who am I then? was explained by the 'wise' stating that the infinite forms are all apparently seen by Him - super consciously - as His own reflections seen in His ‘mind’s eye’ or ‘third eye’ – like apparently illusory images that manifest unconsciously in ‘human dreams’ in sleep or even in his ‘wakeful’ condition, or day dreaming, as a result of His ‘Maya’, i.e., illusion, leading to the saying, “Don’t believe in hearsay/ And half believe in what you see.”
In short, all forms were believed like different fictitious characters of a novel, and human life about characters attempting to reach the author...
The various forms in the universe were believed each fashioned as a model of the infinite, on much smaller scales, thus limiting an individual form’s capacity or reach in various aspects, varying from zero and tending to infinity…
The original ‘earth’ was believed centric to Him. And later - when forms multiplied - the planet Mars was believed to occupy the central location, rendering eccentricity to Earth as well as to all animal forms that inhabitated it - in their behavioiur…
The human forms however as models of the universe - being formed with the essences of the selected planets, with essence of planet Mars located at the tail-bone end or “Mooladhar’ bandh, or lock, with maximum percentage of energy retained at the lowest level and gradually decreasing to ‘sahasrara bandh’ in head - believably rendered it to have the potential as infinity, achievable only if energy at Mooladhar, along with the energy at intermediate levels also could reach one point in the head or from Mars to Moon acted in unison for a particular reincarnation or hero for that yuga (thus the importance of Shiva with Ganesha assisting Parvati, Rama with Hanuman assisting Sita, Krishna with Bhim assisting Draupadi - to overcome particularly the lock formed by the planet Venus , i.e., Kartikeya, Ravana, Duryodhana, at the throat - in human forms during different Yugas from Satyuga to Dwaper yuga respectively, and so on)…
As I had indicated earlier also, Earth, Sun, Centre of Galaxy, or rather their models are the heroes in the stories related to Sata Yuga, Treta Yuga, and Dwaper Yuga respectively. It would be observed that these Heavenly Bodies indicate highlight on the characters moving outwards from the earth to sun to galaxy... In the Kaliyuga, obviously, looking at the trend, the highlight should be on the void of the universe or zero, or the 'common man' or collectively the 'true democracy'... In Gita, the wise ancients indicated that Krishna or God is not within each human form, as one apparently believes because of 'Maya' or illusion. In fact, it is the other way round, that is to say that all forms lie within ultimate form of Krishna or the infinite void of the universe...
Each individual predominantly reflects the characteristic properties of one out of the eight planets. Therefore the exercise boils down to finding which planet one represents and thus anticipate the characteristics one would predominantly reflect... In essence, Palmistry/ Astrology, basically, attempt to predict human behaviour from the trends of three basic lines/ from the known time of birth of the concerned... Hindus cosidered the formless as the 'Absolute Truth' while the 'Truth' about the behaviour during apparent passage of time was considered when it didn't change with time, i.e., remained constant...
But Why Shiva?
In the present times, human brain is understood as an analogous computer, i.e., a word could make one go into the various aspects the word communicates to any individual according to his capacity... For example, the name of a flower, Rose, heard/ read by a normal educated person could communicate to the brain a beautiful look, velvety touch, sweet smell, a sweet preparation from its petals that is used as a medicine in a flower...
Similarly, the name, ‘Shiva’, communicates, primarily, someone or something permanent – ‘Amrita’ - or that which makes one eternal (merges one’s ‘soul’ with the unending ‘Supreme soul’, i.e., halp realize the ‘Absolute Truth’ or attain the goal an apparent individual seeks - or rather is made to seek - for Yugas or eons in a journey from zero to infinity and back to zero again in different forms. To a 'mathematician' a ‘Tangent theta’ curve could help in visualization within 360 degrees in four quadrants)…
It is a word that communicates something opposite of that which gives transient nature or impermanence (Mrityu) to material forms, i.e., ‘Visha’, a poison that kills or renders temporary nature to the animal and other ‘non-living’ forms also…
Hello Mr. JC, K,
I'm aware of the shift of center from being earth to what mars and so on based on every Yuga. But I always left a question behind...
Could we simply connect the shift of centers to the Big Bang Theory? As the Universe is expanding and so this would mean a shift of the center too. Unless of course we take into consideration that the expansion is uniform. Does it make any sense?
Hello ab,
Why Shiva? Why not Shiva?
We all “Dawn” into new truths. Each one has his “Dawn”.
You could have “Dawn”ed into art. There is a God in everything as you'd know. Just that Shiva is a more direct manner. I'm not saying this is great the other is not. What I am saying is we are all in a plane and not necessarily expect everyone to follow us. This is the reason for the Fanatics who throw in a make-believe-shift on people. They tend to believe that their “Dawn” is the right state and the rest is all wrong. It simply annoys me when I see someone 'Force Preach'.
The reason for all the mess in the world as I see is this. Take a good look around and you’ll know what I am talking about.
The world would be a better place if we could understand this simple concept and accept people as they are and not interfere their planes of existence.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Joshi uncle,
can i have your phone number please. Please mail it to me. Would like to talk to you sometime.

The word shiva appears based on hidden intellectual thoughts of previous birth karma. The name is not important but the contemplation was important. Please do not conclude on this and go further.
When intellectual thoughts stop you let that go by observing, go deeper.
"Knowledge of Reality, I see that you are I and I am You."
Hi Swamy,
I am not concluding.. far from it, my journey has only just begun...
its not the knowledge of reality that is important, you already know that deep within. its the realization that brings you face to face with it and then there is no going back.

Lol - language is a limitation. The knowledge what we have is nothing but collection of patterns. We do not have knowledge of reality, what we have is the intellectual acceptance about reality.
I did not want to argue with your revelation of constant or constants, but just wanted to encourage you to go further. My only observation is that as you go forward please be ready to drop the conclusiveness arising due to the perceieved thoughts.
interesting point of view, though i am not too sure i caught you entirely.
but i shall keep it in mind.
i quite like your line about"intellectual accpetance" of reality. very well put and hits the nail quite on the head!
interesting...
Hi Felix,
To explain the ‘present day mess’ - due believably to the effect of ‘time’ at the fag-end of Kaliyuga when human efficiency tends to 0%, from 25% at the beginning of it as per ‘Hindu’ belief - the mention of ‘earth in the beginning’ perhaps communicates, to the present day average terrestrial, a picture of the most evolved form of Earth-Moon as we know it today, with Earth having Himalayas et al located towards the northern boundary of ‘India’…
Ancient Hindus, however, appear to have believed ‘earth in the beginning' as central, and also the possibility of evolution of other Heavenly Bodies from it, like recently we have come to know from ‘scientists’ that Moon believably did so at some stage from the 'present day earth’ (prototype of 'marriage of Shiva-Parvati' to the ancients)…
Astrophysicists have learnt in the recent past that the planet Jupiter is voluminous and has a core of liquid Hydrogen at a high pressure and an atmosphere of Hydrogen (the gas that goes into the formation of stars, including our sun or Brahma, that occupy most of the universal space in innumerable galaxies); and it has Saturn (‘Sudershan chakra’ wielding Krishna or physical form of Vishnu) like rings, though smaller; and many satellites, out of which Io is similar to our earth (Mahesh) thus representing Maheshamurti (see post on Elephanta) – the three in one God or the physical forms of Eeshan, the formless Shiva represented by Shivalinga…
Another ‘Hindu’ mythological story also communicates the three aspects of the physical God, indicating the location of the ‘essence’ of Jupiter at the navel of the human form... It describes Vishnu lying in the centre of the ‘kshirsagar’ or ‘milky ocean’ with Brahma (sun, ‘essence’ located at solar plexus) sitting comfortably on a lotus flower that evolved from His navel! At a certain stage Brahma noticed two demons evolve, one each, from ‘His ears’ and grow bigger in size with the passage of time, thus causing panic in Brahma lest they consume him! However, at the right time, Vishnu grabbed them (the two locks or Bandhas above the solar plexus - essences of Mercury at chest and Venus at the Throat level) before they could do any damage to Brahma! Essences of Earth & Moon believably lie at the ‘Ajna bandh’ (the meeting point of nose and forehead) and ‘Sahasrara (perhaps sahastradhara or thousand channels) bandh’ (at the Head).
Today, if you were to ask a naïve person, or even a well educated artist, how Sita, Rama’s wife (called ‘Vaidehi’ also, i.e., having no physical form!) would have looked in the Treta Yuga - when efficiency of humans had believably been between 75% & 50% - you can expect as many pictures as there are people. Of course, those would expectedly be based on the present day looks and dresses of female characters or according to their own imagination. And, some of those might hurt the feelings of some intolerant ‘born Hindus’ today who cannot visualize how Sita or any other human could represent a formless being... although no one has any objection to ‘bring to life’ apparently ‘dead characters’, viz., for example, Raj Kapoor, Shivaji Ganeshan, and so on, through projections on ‘silver screens’ of their films that were recorded in the past…and even animation films...
However, no Hindu objects to the terrifying picture of ‘Ma Kali’, for it has been accepted since time immemorial as a symbolic representation of a destructive force - an erupting volcano… ‘Diwali’ is called ‘Kali puja’ in Bengal and the ‘anars’, used in fireworks, are shaped like volcanoes and are similar in function too…
Similarly, to the present day generation, the name ‘India that is Bharat’ (which perhaps covered the entire globe once upon a time, as ‘Mahabharat’ suggests, given its background of ‘Ashwamedha Yagyas’ or expansion of their empire under powerful rulers, and possession of ‘Brahmastra’ or Nuclear bombs (as the USA is being seen to be tending today, minus ‘spirituality’ though) communicates a small portion of the globe - with all the inhabitants in the relatively smaller pieces of land in its neighborhood inimical towards its present day inhabitants. This is despite the knowledge that India under different rulers has expanded/ shrunk from time to time. Only a few decades ago, under the British rule, it was relatively bigger – Pakistan and Bangla Desh weren’t even born, and today many states desire to secede from it…
The war of ‘Mahabharat’, started between ‘cousins’, doesn’t seem to have ended as it is still being fought whenever there is clash of interests - now between brothers even, from house to house and families to families - Modis/
Birlas/ Ambanis, and so on…
Christians believe Adam and Eve & Satan responsible for the present day human sufferings while
Hindus believe Shiva-Parvati & demons or Ramshasas as responsible for the present day mess!
Maybe one could relax if one gave due credit to the formless Creator and His imagination instead!
Now, coming to Felix’s reference to the Big Bang, let me 'revive' Carl Sagan and quote his words - recorded, in the year ’80, in his book ‘Cosmos’ - or rather almost the ‘ancient Hindu thought’ to describe the beginning of the universe, although the latter believes in the unborn and the unending Creator, and real time and space as zero with universe as His imagination with apparent day in His unending life of 4.32 billion years (if 1,000 cycles of Mayayuga are considered), otherwise about 4.6 billion years (if 1008 cycles, i.e., 360x3) followed by His night of the same duration thus totaling about 9.2 billion years in one day in His life…
“TEN OR TWENTY BILLION YEARS AGO, SOMETHING HAPPENED – The Big Bang, the event that began our universe. Why it happened is the greatest mystery we know. That it happened is reasonably clear. All the matter and energy now in the universe was concentrated at extremely high density – a kind of cosmic egg, reminiscent of the creation myths of many cultures – perhaps into a mathematical point with no dimensions at all. It was not that all the matter and energy were squeezed into a minor corner of the present universe; rather, the entire universe, matter and energy and the space they fill, occupied a very small volume. There was not much room for events to happen in…”
‘Truth’ remains yet to be realized by the present day humans, unlike the wise Hindus’ realization of man as model of the universe via the essences of the universe represented by the solar system, with Earth-Moon (the ‘mithya Jagat’ or illusory body and its indestructible formless soul - believably water, fire and air proof) as its superior most model…
About eccentricity, we have already seen how believably illusory earth could represent the believably illusory infinite fabric of the universal void, which is apparently expanding such that the physical forms within it are also growing larger in size (to represent a true model that incorporates changes taking place with reference to the passage of apparent time even, unlike man made models today don’t/ can’t do, e.g., an electronic computer, that apparently is a model of the human brain, isn’t able to match the ‘intelligence’ in humans, which of course itself is insignificant compared to the potential that it apparently has!)… Eccentricity, in, say, any ‘life’ form, gets introduced immediately after the point enlarges into a sphere or a globe - as it lies on its surface, it would grow bigger and bigger as the size of the globe increases… Even on the surface, relatively speaking if a point represents the beginning of human life - (say Kashi as per ‘Hindu’ belief, for it helps in better visualization compared to ‘Eden Garden’, which to a ‘born Hindu’ might mean a cricket ground in Calcutta!) – any other location would be ‘eccentric’… however, human form believably being the model of the universe could at any time connect with the 'supreme computer' - if only 'there is a will'!
hi vp
very interested.. tell me more about this place...
As Felix has no more questions, I think it needs mention that planet Jupiter, as per available information, takes 4332.59 days to complete one revolution around the Sun, which is nearly equal to 12 times the time taken by our earth to go round the Sun, i.e., 12 human years...
The above might help in understanding why 'Hindus' ritually observe, every twelfth year, 'Kumbha Mela' i.e., gathering of large numbers, particularly at Allahabad, near Kashi, at the 'Sangam' or confluence of the Rivers, Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati (the Goddess of knowledge that went underground, or disappeared, just as the 'sphere of knowledge' reduced with time as humans became 'specialists', or 'apple is believed to have been eaten by Adam' to result in human suffering even today!)
'Hindus' gave stress on all round knowledge or 'Siddhi'...
Hello,
Mr. Joshi! Thank you very much. Yes I've gotten more than what I had asked. I'll slowly let all those valuable information drain into my head. Meanwhile, you had to mention about "Bhramastra". I was just telling another friend about how its possible to have a nuclear warhead during those ages.
"Its as simple as Telekinesis, just that at a molecular level"
Does that make any sense?

Hi Felix,
The present day ‘scientists’ know all about the chain reaction responsible for the fusion of Hydrogen - or explosion of trillions of Hydrogen bombs per second - in our Sun (Brahma) and other stars (His other reflections) that is going on for billions of years, except the agency that originally triggered it (believed as ‘formless’ by ancient ‘Hindus’!)
The ancients realized all forms of the Creator, physical or otherwise, as ‘Guru’, i.e., Teacher or Superior (in knowledge). “Guru Brahma, guru Vishnu, guru devo Mahesh/ Guru sakshat Param Brahma… etc.”
It is possible for all the students in a particular Class to receive some particular information disseminated by the teacher, at the same time.
It is said that scientists JC Bose and Marconi, apparently located at different places - one in the east and the other in the west - received similar thoughts. However, the Indian was found lagging in time (because of position values of ‘zeroes’) in getting recognition for it! (It is, however, also said by some, “Fools think alike!” :-)
