Narad Ghat, Varanasi - path through the after life

I am just the thought, I am just the memory; I am just the energy that has departed from my body as the mortal world brings what’s left of me down to cremation. I am history, I do not exist, and all those moments I spent trying tirelessly to get a better standard of living looks futile, now that I have left it behind. As the mortal world wakes up to this mournful truth, what worth was my life to me?

In this world I have just come to, I descend the steps of transition beyond death, where Yama awaits, to lead the way ahead. I have left the world I knew, I no longer know where to go or what to do. I am pure energy as I watch; the final rights take place for my soul. This body I left now lies there lifeless, clothed in flowers and washed in the Ganges. What was the worth of my life to me?

They place me on the funeral pyre, the sky blends into twilight as the hymns rise to calm the aura around me. I can hear the jingling anklets of the Ganges as she sweeps by me, I can hear the hymns as they rise around me and I can feel Mata Annapurni as she picks me and lays me like a baby, in this new world, on her lap to set me free. The fire rises, the smoke climbs, I have begun my journey. I hear the sweet notes of the Mrityunjaya as Lord Shiva finally comes to me. I lay here, bathed in the last moments of worldly attention, the last gift of mankind to me, as I wonder what the worth of my life was to me.

I am the soul that watches on, I am the fire that eats into my being; I am the ash that is left of me. I feel the warm feet of Kali as they press me down calming me, one foot she places on my leg, the other she covers over my heart. In the raging fires, her sweet smile cools my soul. I offer my head, my balidaan to the mother, as my head she lovingly takes in her hand. Out there in the mortal world the crowd watches on as a bamboo is smashed over my head. The skull cracking noise, they set me free, I have left this world, but what worth was my mortal life to me?

This surging energy, this warmth of the Mother, as the guiding force of Yama, leads me on to the sweet smile of the Lord. I am one, I am none, I am and I am not. I am the smile you put up on your wall, I am that energy gone, I was and now I am not, yet what good was that life to me?

This state is not a world, not life, not anything you and I can define, this state is what the mind would reckon, this state is what they tried to reveal. This state is what you really are; this state is what you were always meant to be. This state is Shiva, this state is shakti, this state is energy, this state is beyond the limits of my mortal remains. This state is what I will be within the womb of my mortal mother when I re-enter this world called life. Yet, what was the worth of my previous life to me?

Shakti is the mortal carrier, Shiva the potent seed, dormant to be awoken when I re-enter. The union was sacred, the union was essential to lay the path for me. I am shakti, I am life, I am energy that awakens within this womb, life that we relate to, life that we witness, life for which we try to reach some form of immortality. And yet I wonder why I need another life, another tiring journey when I still don’t know the worth of the previous life to me.

I am soma, I am skanda, I am the pulse of immortality. I am the resultant energy of the universe, one that is born out of the union of Mahadeva Shiva and Parvati. I am amrita; I am the portion of immortality that wakes up again into a new life within the womb of my new mother. Karma has brought me back, karma pushes me to rebirth. I am born again, into another life, to elevate myself, to bring this down to equilibrium, to nothingness, to release myself for good, and rise and go to Kailasa, to go to Vaikunta, to the supreme energy that calls me home.

Kavitha, for ‘me’, ‘I’ is the Supreme Soul or energy that is formless, though omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, super intelligent, and so on, but it is of no use to ‘I’ for it is absolutely alone! Now, you can perhaps imagine that you are that being’s true copy in ‘physical form’, although you might see innumerable others who you could assume as inferior to you. If so, what would you like to do? Maybe you would like to know what you in realily are. And in that process you would like to consider all the pros and cons, the plus, neutral, as well as the minuses, that is, the ‘good’, so so, the bad’ (and the ugly’ even)!

Coming back to Naradaghat at Kashi the abode of Adi Shiva, Narad in the stories is depicted as a sage who travels from one loka to another, (akash, mrityu, and patal, which we have earlier also discussed), is believed to be ‘Brahma’s manasputra’, that is, Brahma’s son in His thoughts, or imagined as Brahma’s son. And, we have already seen how Brahma refers to our Sun, while sunlight is imagined as Saraswati the Veena player and ‘Goddess of Knowledge’ (and we have seen how the sound emanating from our Sun has been found even in the present close to the sound of a stringed musical instrument harp, associated with angels/ veena).

And, interestringly Narada also is depicted as a Veena player who is mischievous (like Krishna the representative of Vishnu) and at his sweet will has access to ‘Baikuntha’, the abode of Lord Vishnu, as well as any of the ‘lokas’ – virtually a common energy acting as a link between Heavenly Bodies, humans and God!

Kavitha, you concluded by saying, “I am born again, into another life, to elevate myself, to bring this down to equilibrium, to nothingness, to release myself for good, and rise and go to Kailasa, to go to Vaikunta, to the supreme energy that calls me home.”

Although it might already be known to some, it is for the information of ‘born Hindus’, purely ‘Vaishnavites’ or ‘Shaivaites’, that in Sanskrit ‘kuntha’ means ‘lazy’ or ‘fool’ and, therefore, ‘Baikuntha’, the word with prefix ‘bai’, indicates the abode of Vishnu is meant only for those who are ‘wise’/ ‘enlightened’ and aren’t ‘fools’, that is, those who lack overall knowledge.

And thus Krishna, the believable representative of Vishnu, the Nadbindu, in the Gita is shown to indicate all wrong actions to happen on account of ‘lack of knowledge’ - of the formless creator and His physical forms, which is indicated by the ‘wise ancients’ as the only purpose of birth on earth in human form…

Talking about Narad the ‘manasputra’ of Brahma and also Diwali the 'festival of light', the following thought popped up as a reaction to an article that ‘I’ sent this morning to ‘my’ newspaper. Although, it is perhaps beyond comprehension of the ‘west’, that is believably ruled by Saturn, or Neelamber Krishna the mischievous representative of Vishnu the sudershan-chakra dhari, perhaps alluding to the ring-planets Jupiter and Saturn. Or even Kartikeya who rides a (blue) Peacock, the National Bird of 'India' that is Bharat, as his vehicle...or even Saturn's friend Venus, whose essence believably resides in human throat, and is thus responsible for communication through speech/ writings...

“This refers to the subverse article Rebranding America by Nicholas D Kristof (10/27).

Somebody please tell the writer that all ‘Brahmins’, the word derived from Brahma the Sun, the source of light, that is, ‘educated people’ who are not ‘fully enlightened’, but not any more completely ignorant. The phenomenon reflected by a candle that can dispel darkness, but over a small area only.

Similarly, in ‘India’ that was ‘Mahabharat’, the educated were titled ‘Sharma’. Even though they could then be further sub divied and given some other sub-titles, like ‘I’ am called a ‘Joshi’ the word derived from ‘Jyotishi’, i.e., ‘Astrologer’, or ‘khagolshastri’ the person who dealt with ‘sky’ where Heavenly Bodies appear to fly like birds or ‘khaga’, as different from ‘mriga’ the deer that can only jump, perhaps thus appearing to copy the birds in order to reach the ‘sky’ and get out of the clutches of the ‘predator’ that chases him – just as humans try to escape the ‘black death’, and fail!

The Sun (called ‘brahmalok’) was realized as temporary, and Brahma thus needed sleep at the end of His Day of over 4 billion years, to get recharged or revitalised! Just as its reflection man needs sleep and rest for half the day, each day, but not exceed say 150 years as a model of the solar sytem…And man was realized merely an instrument, or a medium, or a tool, or a fool needing to get fully charged attaching oneself mentally and spiritually all the time to Krishna the Black only, while enjoying the drama or fooling thanks to the 'White'!”

Another similar reaction sent to ‘my’ newspaper, as below, because of the same reason, i.e., ‘modern' youths’ rigid nature - as part of the drama pertaining to Kaliyuga.

“This refers to Shashi on Sunday article, ‘The nation needs principled youngsters’, an analysis in view of the present 'chaotic situation' from the view-point of a modern young man.

“Child is the father of man,” said the wise ancients also.
And, in ‘India’ that was ‘Mahabharat’, it was well understood in the ‘past’ by 'HIndus'.

The ancients also understood the behaviour of ‘Nature’, and realizing it said, ”Old order changes, yielding place to new (naturally).” Also it was realized that all ‘bad things’, as well as ‘good things’ too, come to an end, naturally. And man and all ‘animals’ too were realized merely mediums for bringing out the change in the material forms, in the words of ‘Hindus’ all made from five basic elements, by conversion of primordial sound energy, ‘Om’ - that they called, ‘sky’, ‘earth’, ‘fire’, ‘air’ and ‘water’…and so on, infinite words…different view-points by different characters from time to time carried forth through human agency since time immemorial.

Like the modern young men, the ancients also hoped Kaliyuga would end and Satyuga would return, but not because of humans but by the will of the one and only Supreme Being (the unique force), that is His or its grand design of the ‘kalchakra’ the ‘time cycle’ that governs the characteristic property of ‘humans’ since God alone knows when!”

The advantage of living in a cosmopolitan city of New Delhi right from the pre-independence era provided ‘us’ all school-going siblings the opportunity to observe different customs of the various regions of the same country called ‘India’.

While persons belonging to all northern, eastern, and western regions performed Diwali on a particular new moon night (called ‘amavasya’), we were surprised when for the first time we heard a Tamil family residing next door celebrating Diwali early morning!

We were awakened by the sound of exploding crackers placed inside a pitcher (?) when it still was dark! The two sons and their parents had applied oil on the body and taken bath, before the crackers were lighted!

Only then we learnt how the Tamilian ‘Hindus’ celebrated Diwali to mark the sunrise (r3flecting enlightenment), which ‘I’ can correlate now with the belief that Sun rules the direction ‘South’, while the other ‘Hindus’, believed Himalaya the abode of Shiva-Parvati/ Moon, as the ‘shailputri’ (Ma Durga as Mahishasurmardini or dispeller of darkness in human minds) in the direction North as the VIP ruler that also ruled the human head…

Some time ago, while watching the recording of an active volcano on the National Geographic, ‘I’ saw how some adventurous ‘volcanologists’ had managed to capture the entire process and ‘I’ could thus also correlate the phenomenon with the ‘ancient Hindu belief’ regarding Shiva, and Kali, who believably resides in Shiva’s heart.

‘I’ saw the reddish flame out of the mouth of a volcano, like Kali’s tongue, and Diwali cracker ‘anar’ as its model!

And, also observed how the molten magma, or lava, overflowed on some particular side of the hill and flowed downwards, burning trees etc. in its wake. This material also appeared like a red tongue protruding from the mouth to a great distance as long as the eruption continued.

Thereafter, when the material cooled down it turned ‘kali’ or black. And, the matter that flowed into seawater at the foothill, burst with exploding sounds like that of bursting of Diwali crackers!

‘I’ was convinced that it confirmed the 'Hindus' actually meant Earth as Shiva and the destructive energy at its core as ‘kali’, as reflected by South Indians blasting the crackers inside a pitcher!

Kavitha, please correct me if 'I' have erred about the celebrtion of Diwali in South India...Of, course there are many stories about demons who reside underground ('narka') and from time to time troubled the devtas, but were eventually defeated and killed by Krishna, or some other divine force...the stories thus conveying generally the fall in human efficiency with passage of time, because time of review of past events is believed to move from Satyuga to Kkaliyuga - in the reverse direction of evolution!

Kavitha, As ‘I’ said earlier also elsewhere, apparently in ‘real life’, human being studies the pros and cons of each and every action and then performs a particular action - the phenomenon also similarly reflected in our choosing a card from the pack of cards offered by a magician, with their backs only seen by all those who are present at the 'show'.

And, we all are aware that the person, with the ‘trick of hands’, apparently eventually fools us, thanks to our naturally possessing imperfect physical senses and thus remaining awe struck!

Perhaps similarly, just as the 'magician' apparently studies the subject and learns how the tricks are performed, only a few 'characters in the drama of life' are seen to attempt reading between the lines the ‘Nature’ (an ‘open book’) to arrive at the ‘truth’, or the ‘absolute truth’…And, thus the sanctity of the ‘festival of light’ when earth returns to the same location where it was 'the previous year' since time immemorial and the saying "Tamaso ma jyotirgamaya...", or 'Lead the kindly light", and so on...

In so far as ‘I’ am concerned, perhaps thanks to my own internal light, on this Diwali, ‘I’ believe ‘I’ am one of the innumerable images of the unborn, in its own thoughts, (just as various thoughts apparently pop up into my head at the same instant), as reflected by my visuallisation of a child in the womb of its mother in human, or any other ‘animal’ form that is yet to be delivered, or/ rather remains ever undelivered, being replaced by some other image at another moment before ‘I’ could even be delivered!

This is really advanced technology in 'action replays' of fictitious images, as reflected by 'virtual reality' through 'animation films'!

However, is it only for His entertainment?

If so, why did the ‘wise ancients’ advise one to know oneself while, on the other hand, conveying the ‘all knowing’ Supreme Being to be related with time and space zero, and thus calling Him ‘unborn and unending’ and the universe as illusory?

Doesn’t the above thought convey that He had in no time realized, after considering innumerable view-points (that appear to us humans, as His models, events related with the ever changing ‘present’ that keeps on turning into ‘past’), and is ever conscious of His being ‘perfect’, the only all rounder, and not ‘expert’ in just one possible field of activity amongst innumerable apparently possible!!!

But, the ‘wisest-of-wise-ancient’ even couldn’t tell how He came to exist at the first place!!!

The above could give birth to the possibility of His seeking, perhaps the impossible: His own origin!!!

He could thus be looking for His ‘real Mother’ (and failing, eternally) through different models (relationship as conveyed through the stories in ‘east’ and ‘west’ both, i.e., Krishna & Yashoda, or Christ & Mother Mary), and even in the ‘present’ as a reflection of it the desire to know what’s on the other side of the moon (‘Jagadamba’ or ‘mother of earth’ to the ‘Hindus’, the name derived from ‘Indu’ meaning moon in Sanskrit, the script of the ‘devtas’ or demigods, i.e., ‘devanagari lipi’), adopted by ‘common man’ in ‘India’ for ‘Hindi’ and even ‘Hindustani’ too in which words from other languages also are incorporated, thanks to ‘tolerance’, or/ rather realization by the ‘wise’ that the entire globe is ‘Mahabharat’ that is ‘India’ looked after by Moon, like a mother!!!

Hindu belief also conveys only Nadbindu to have existed in the beginning…and therefore the ‘Hindu prayer’ since time immemorial related with God as mother, father, brother, friend, money, everything - all living and non-living rolled into one formless Supreme Being!!!

As ‘I’ had earlier also pointed out the common observation, the human society (“Two is company/ Three is crowd.”) always appears to get divided into minimum two categories (‘for’ and ‘against’) even on the smallest of small issues. However, when the numbers concerned are many, there would possibly be noticed another category of those who follow the ‘middle path’ (like ‘The Buddha’), neither ‘for’ nor ‘against’ the issue concerned…
‘I’ give below an interesting thought on human behaviour received on the internet.

I AM . . .

I am your constant companion.

I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.

I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.

I am completely at your command.

Half the things you do, you might as well turn them over to me and I will be
able to do them quickly and correctly.

I am easily managed - you must merely be firm with me.

Show me exactly how you want something done and after a few lessons, I will
do it automatically.

I am the servant of all great men and, alas, of all failures as well.

Those who are great, I have made great.

Those who are failures, I have made failures.

I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine, plus
the intelligence of a human being.

You may run me for profit or run me for ruin. It makes no difference to me.

Take me. Train me. Be firm with me and I will put the world at your feet.

Be easy with me and I will destroy you.

I am...HABIT!

Very well put Joshi Uncle, there are some parts of our daily routine that I do not like but i do not know how to control it.

Not the most efficient way of leading life.

I feel most of the people are in this constant dilemma. They just dont know what to do to get themselves peace.

What is the solution to the problem?

Kavitha, It is because the thought has originated in the ‘west’ that one of the suggestions is, “Half the things you do, you might as well turn them over to me and I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.”

Perhaps ‘correctly’ here means what you thought was correct, and might not turn out to be correct in the long run even in your own view…

Whereas, in the ‘east’, say in the Gita, Yogiraja Krishna, the all rounder, advises one to leave everything on Him, (expressed as ‘surrender in him’), when he would himself believably take one (a ‘stithpragya’ or firm devotee), like an adult holds a ‘well behaved’ child’s hand and escorts it to the correct destination or goal…As an example Krishna, acting as ‘selfless’ Panadavas’ friend cum guide, helped them eventually regain the control of the kingdom they only deserved and not their ‘selfish’ cousins…Krishna also says that he has made only two types of humans – ‘selfless’ and ‘selfish’, thereby indicating him as the doer, whereas because of ‘maya’ that is illusion one starts believing onself as the doer - only till one's role lasts in the drama!

Kavitha, ‘I’ give below another message (prayer) received on the internet, because one can’t say what might help ‘enlighten’ one.

Saint Theresa's Prayer:

May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be confident knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.

N. B. In case you are not aware, Saint Theresa is known as the Saint of the Little Ways, meaning she believed in doing the little things in life well and with great love.

The verses regarding the soul departing from the mortal body are beautifully written or rather posted.

I really loved these lines in particular: "Shakti is the mortal carrier, Shiva the potent seed, dormant to be awoken when I re-enter."
The first two paras seem to beautifully describe the journey of the atman from birth to death and its travel beyond it.

Most of know that we are reborn because of Karma, eventhough we know the path for salvation, most of us are unable to follow it. Maybe we are destined to be reborn till the lord is kind enough to grant us moksha.

JC said...

‘Reading between the lines’ the ancient Hindu thoughts, in simple words, each one of us is the (formless) lord itself, for He believably resides within each non-living as well as all life forms.

However the human form alone, being the most superior form, has the capability to realize the lord, but only if one knew how to tune with Him, the supreme being, who ever remains detached.

Thus according to the ancient 'wise', it is a matter of changing one’s mental attitude only.

It is perhaps like having been given a locked box that has within it a precious pearl.

And, although the key to the box, in the form of sound energy, believably is also within one’s reach, yet being ‘apsmara purush’, that is, unable to recall memory, one generally forgets the secret ‘mantra’ (like ‘open sesame’ in the story of Alibaba & forty thieves when uttered could resut in shifting of the heavy rock away from the opening in the cave) that was believably made known to each one of the souls when it commenced the cycle of 8.4 million forms of life till it attained the human form.

Each soul, like a witness, has naturally seen performance of ‘karmas’ or actions in each of those 8.4 million forms, which obviously are beyond one’s control to take account of when one attains the human form, which believably govern one’s performance in the particular human form.

One perhaps thus has no other option but to ‘surrender in Krishna’ the formless, who believably acts on behalf of the detached (thoughtless) Nadbindu (who can only be reached peacefully through zero or near zero thought) - reflected by the navel in the human form, as essence (Infrared energy, that is, pure heat) of planet Jupiter that in the mother’s womb acts as a feeding line to the unborn…

JC said...

Kavitha, Aswini Kini, Let me try a mental exercise based on my experience: When ‘I’ was born,’I’ apparently didn’t know ‘I’ was the third living child of my parents, or that before ‘I’ was born they had lost their two offsprings when each of them survived for about a year and half or so only.

‘I’ came to learn about that only gradually, and also about me as being one of the six children of the same parents out of a total of ‘8’, (the ‘mysterious number’, just short of ‘9’, which is almost ‘0’ but for the tail), born from the same mother as my sphere of worldly knowledge expanded gradually, like a pitcher gets filled drop by drop.

But having observed the above phenomenon, like a ‘scientist’, ‘I’ have come to know that every pitcher, made of any material that doesn’t dissolve in water (as an exception), at any location or time would overflow at a certain stage - the time of its getting filled depending on the rate at which the water inflows into it.

Whereas, an average human brain, or head, is ‘different’ from a material pitcher, although it also is made up of matter. It doesn’t ever appear to overflow, just as in my case despite the 'garbage' ‘I’ have collected within it for about seven decades, instead it always appears empty!

And now only when ‘I’ came to know that my brain is a super analogical computer, ‘I’ could correlate my mother in that respect at least similar to Devki, Krishna’s mother!

And, to reach this conclusion, in a way ‘I’ needed analysis of lots of data that was stored within my brain – a phenomenon that can perhaps be seen similar to sieving of say crushed rock in a sieve shaker in which different size-range of particles get collected in different sieves and the finest only reaches the pan at the base. And be able to correlate the same with the ancient Hindu Yogis’ concept of essence of ‘ashtgraha’ the '8 grahas’ located within each human form, with the lowest called ‘mooladhar’ or the base…

And, even my younger sister - who finally did her post graduation in Hindi literature (dealing with different 'rasa' or essences) - once told me that the joy that a student of ‘art’ receives in reading works of poets, such as Jaidev, cannot be realized by ‘engineers’ who deal with dry sand and rocks!

And, interestingly the yogis used the term ‘moksha’ or ‘liberation’, or ‘salvation’, or ‘merging one’s soul with supreme soul, who is also called eternal bliss’, and so on, thus conveys a ‘stithpragya’ or a devotee with firm belief despite the apparent chaos around one…

And one knows that ‘churning’, or agitation produced by a churner in milk, is performed for the basic purpose of separating the cream from it that only rises up, for it is relatively lighter and is virtually imprisoned within each heavier drop of milk, just as Yogis believed soul to be imprisoned within the heavier ‘material’ body!

And, that it is Yogiraja Krishna who believably is the causse of all agitations in human life too that one apparently gets to see around one!

In the North India, the festivities related with ‘Deepavali’ (meaning originally a row of lighted earthen lamps using mustard oil as fuel) the ‘festival of light’, or ‘Kali Puja’ (as it is called in the East, particularly in Bengal, where mustard seeds were, and still used by ‘tantrics for control of souls’ (also called ‘black magic’), and its oil is ritually used for massaging the body before bath regularly) start two days before the New Moon, of the month called ‘Kartik’.
The month is therefore related with Kartikeya, the believable first son of Shiva-Parvati. Who is also called ‘somaskandha’, the ‘right hand of moon’, thus pointing it to stand for planet Venus, believably the friend of Saturn, which is associated with iron/ steel and also with blue colour (and in the human form, with nerves). And, therefore, the north Indians ritually buy utensil(s) made of some metal, particular steel!

And, the next day after deepavali is dedicated to worship of a relatively smaller Mount Goverdhan, which is associated with Krishna and is located near Mathura on the banks of River Yamuna, his believable birth-place (inside a prison), while his enlarged form, Shiva (attained at the end of Satyuga) is associated with Mount Kailash in the Himalayan Ranges - as the source in Lake Mansarovar of Rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Brahmaputra, i.e, also with Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma respectively! And, the four-handed Vishnu is believed to recline west-east (with His mooladhar located at Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati), while Bhootnath Shiva, also four-handed is indicated reclining NW-SE, with His ‘Solar Plesus’ indicated close to the coastal region in Orissa, as indicated by the ‘Sun Temple of Konark’, and the mooladhar in the Andamans…

[However, Shiva’s intermediate stage in the evolutionay process of Kali that is housed in ‘Shiva’s heart’ that is earth’s core/ Krishna the ‘black hole’ located at the centre of our galaxy, is indicated in certain other stories associated with River Narmada and Mount Amarkantak, while Krishna’s training is indicated in this basin, at the hermitage of Sage Sandipani…and also Mahakal Shiva is associated with the ancient holy city of Ujjain on the banks of River Shipra, in this basin, while during Dwaperyuga itself, Krishna is eventually associated with the Arabian Sea, in the coastal region of Gujarat in west India…

And, the ‘panchbhootas’, or ‘panchtatvas’ (the ‘five ghosts’, or ‘five elements’) are indicated responsible for the water cycle, responsible for ‘India’ being called the ‘golden bird’, originating in the southwestern Coast of India in the Arabian Sea, extending to the Himalayan region located in the northeast…]

The festivities end with celebration of ‘bhai-dooj’, the next day to Goverdhan Puja, when brothers and sisters meet and enjoy the get together (which needs to be imagined with the background that Shiva is also called ‘Destroyer’ and River Yamuna is believed the sister of Yama the demigod responsible for ‘death’ of humans)…

Read between lines, one could thus review the realization of the ‘enlightened yogi’, to the effect, “I am Shiva and so you too are.” And, that Shiva the Supreme immortal Being, the enlarged form of Krishna (meaning ‘black’, or ‘Kali’ who resides in Shiva’s heart), attained after ‘samudramanthan’ (or churning of the ‘kshirsagar’ the ‘milky ocean’, (reflecting or galaxy that holds our solar system) at the end of Satyuga when ‘Amrit’ or immortality was served by the 'Mohani' or 'enchanting form’ of Vishnu (alluding to Moon, read with 'somrus' for devtas as conveying moonrays, or reflected light from its surface) to ‘devtas’, and so on, conveys the concept of universe to reflect different images of Vishnu/ Shiva (as it is also said that Shiva is Vishnu and Vishnu is Shiva - from Vedantis' view-point) reflecting evolution of energy, or gravitational force, housed at the centre of earth (related with time and space zero) at different apparent times, with gravitational force housed at centre of all Heavenly Bodies, and energy in 'souls within each animal form' although the total energy is stored in 8 different energy centres…

The ‘Hindu belief’ although indicates a point source of energy as the Creator, it also indicates human form as its ‘true copy’ in physical form reflected by Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesh ‘the three-in-one God’ (pointing these towards Heavenly Bodies, Mars at the ‘mooladhar’ as the remotely located operator, Earth (Shiva the Mahesh at Ajna Chakra), and Moon (the 'Mohini' or attractive form of Vishnu, or Guru at the sahasrara charka in the head)…while Venus (Kartikeya, located at the throat, Vishuddhi chakra) acted as the commander of the army deployed by Shiva-Parvati to defend Ma Durga’s fort, and to allow only those who are cleared by Mars (younger brother Ganesha locted at the base, who alone has the blessings of both Gouri & Kali, the white as well as the black)…

‘Hindus’ believed the sound energy as more powerful than human beings themselves.

They expressed this by saying that Rama’s name (that carries forth since time immemorial) is more powerful than Rama himself for he existed in human form for a short time only…and so on…

And, for performance of actions in human form they believed essences of ‘grahas’ or selected members of solar system to have been used by the formless Creator, and hence subjects, viz. Astrology, Palmistry etc, were developed to predict the anticipated behaviour of any particular individual with the background of advance knowledge of Astronomy in the 'past'...

However, the lesser developed brains or ‘inferior souls’, playing their assigned role, created doubts among certain characters at any time, who looking at the large distances of stars and planets said how they could influence an individual’s life! And yet they ritually use words related with the 'Heavenly Bodies'.

Who doesn’t use names related with Sun to Saturn (shaniputra for Hindus) and thus are aware of the days, Sunday to Saturday, the seven days in a week, day after day since time immemorial universally?!

And, one specially loves the days of ‘inaction’ or 'holiday'!

Kavitha, ‘I’ am sorry! On review ‘I’ find ‘I’ have mentioned ‘Shani’ or Saturn as ‘shaniputra’ in place of ‘Suryaputra’, the ‘son of Sun’, above…

As a result of enhancement of knowledge through Cassini probe recently, the image of ring-planet Saturn in the eyes of the ‘west’ has undergone/ undergoing change vastly. The planet perhaps is now being seen, though to a limited extent only, as it was believably seen by ‘Hindus’, the believably advanced astronomers in the past, who called it ‘Sudershanchakrachari Vishnu’, as the physical representation of the formless creator, whose essence is believably linked with the essence of planet Mars at the ‘mooladhar’…

‘I’ believe that the ‘present day’ astronomers. or astro physicists, need to read Chapter XI of the Gita, between the lines with the baackground knowledge they have so far attained about the Heavenly Bodies, viz. transformation of stars into different forms, from 'white dwarf' to 'black hole', to know what the sages had learnt about the universe, besides its relationship with 'humans'…with the realisation of man as a model of the universe...which today are read by 'common man' only, mostly...And, thus an average man is confused due to lack of Gurus...

‘I’ would like, for example, all those who have read many scriptures belonging to different thoughts in the N-E-W-S, to tell me what they can make out of the following extracts from Chaper Xi, just as a few drops from the ‘kshirsagar’ that is ‘milky ocean’ of the ancient wise sages.

**Concentrated at one place in the person of that supreme Deity, Arjuna then beheld the whole universe with its maniford divisions. (13)**
**Then Arjuna, full of wonder and with the hair standing on end, reverentially bowed his head to the divine Lord, and with joined palms addressed Him thus. (14)**
**Arjuna said: Lord I behold within Your body all gods and hosts of different beings, Brahma throned on his lotus-seat, Siva and all Rsis and celestial serpents. (15)**
**O Lord of the universe, I see You endowed with numerous arms, bellies, mouths, and eyes and having innumerable forms extended on all sides, I see neither Your beginning nor middle, nor even Your end, unmanifested as You are in the form of the universe. – (16)**
And, so on…

Kavitha, 'I' give another reaction of mine to an article in 'my newspaper', which might help Shri Aswini Kini also...

"This refers to the subverse article Dealers in death by Jug Suraiya (11/1).

It’s a wonderful presentation, possible through words, of the ‘present day’ environment on virtually immortal earth, in so far as apparently erratic humans’ or mortals’ behaviour is concerned. But, as is also well known it's upon an ever changing (external) world that has ‘fire’ within its ‘heart’ like any ‘angry-young-man’ today appears to have, which gets reflected even through ‘road rage’…and so on…

The ‘wise ancient Hindus’ - based on in-depth study and realization internally within their heads, (like ‘present day scientists’ also believe to a certain extent only), conveyed that all life forms are designed to eventually ‘die’, that is, leave the dust loaned by earth to them for a limited duration only though believably depending on the complicated appearing 'script' of the 'grand drama’ when seen superficially...

In this drama upon our earth, as ‘a stage’, the ‘Dealers of death’ were however called Yamdoot! And, Shiva was indicated as the ‘Destroyer’. However, Shiva was realised only a part of the ‘Trimurty’, the three-in-one God, called Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh – reflected by the three sides of a coin even for the sake of the ‘common man’ or ‘aam aadmi’ as a model...

And, a coin couldn’t have attained the physical form had one wanted it to have only two sides, the ‘head’ and the ‘tail’. Thus the inert or blank third side that renders thickness to the coin could help a ‘wise’ any time to visualize the ‘middle path’ of The Buddha, the ‘enlightened one’!"

Another thought expressed by 'me' as a reaction to an article...

"HG Wells could also have learnt from the interesting ‘Jugular Vein’ article, Man in a hurry, how man travels to the ‘past’ within one’s mind reminded by some landmark event in the journey called life, using the inbuilt ‘Time Machine’ hired to each individual, man and some ‘inferior animals’ even, but for a limited duration only within each to travel even into the ‘future’, guided by the ‘present day’ other such landmark events - any time, even in dreams!"

Certain facts on the solar system attract ‘my’ attention and make ‘me’ wonder if those could have certain relationships with the thoughts of the ‘wise sages’.
For example, one year on Saturn is learnt to be 29.5 times longer than ours, on earth, although its day is just 11.5 hours compared to ours, that is, almost half. And, on an average on earth, we have 12 hours of day (gouri) and night (Kali).

And, as per the story related with dwaperyuga and Mahabharat, Krishna the ‘black’ - the representative of Lord Vishnu the sudershan-chakra-dhari - is believed responsible for lengthening of Draupadi’s sari, the garment she wore, like all ‘Hindu ladies’ wore till recently. While the word ‘month’ is believably derived from ‘Moon’ and duration of its cycle around earth is also reckoned as nearly 29.5 days (and the adopted calendar today has a month varying between minimum 28 days and maximum 31 days)! Perhaps thus showing the relationship between Moon (Draupadi) and Saturn (Krishna)!

Also, one learns from the ‘present day’ scientists that it takes 165 years for Neptune to circle the Sun one time - while it is also learnt that Neptune’s orbit is just beyond that or Uranus’ the planet that is situated next to Saturn, and Pluto’s the ‘dwarf planet’s’ orbit exists beyond Neptune’s - which might perhaps be seen through the eyes of the ancients thus indicating 165 years as the limiting life-span of man on earth…(which the ‘present day scientists’ could perhaps attempt to correlate with Neptune’s cycle -as Stephen Hawking also said he would like to enter the mind of God!)...

That is God had a mind!! God is mind, he is the thought in the mind, he is the idea that pops up...

He is not another human being like us with a variety of thoughts.

He is the thought.

Kavitha,
I loved this post. While reading ,I was trying to imagine it and it really made me feel as though I could witness my death. am going to read it again and again as it helps in envisioning death while still alive. The words and imagery are really powerful.I do not think any life is meaningless, though. The soul learns and assimilates from its myriad experiences and moves on closer and closer to its ultimate destiny. We live through the entire gamut of experiences before we finally know who we are.
